TRANSFORMING ENTAIN’S WORKSPACE​

Project Overview

World-leading sports betting and gaming company, Entain, recognised the need to create a fit-for-purpose workplace to bring their workplace in-line with their corporate vision. They chose to relocate one of its offices to the 15,694 sq. ft. first floor of New Castle House in Nottingham, a prime Grade II Listed building on Castle Boulevard.

ADT Workplace was selected as the lead interior design and fit-out partner, collaborating with property consultancy AME Partnership Ltd and other professional partners. The design incorporated guidelines from a workplace insights report by Unwork.

The key for this project was to utilise the existing features of the building and bring it into line with the consistent design features and functionality present in other Entain offices. Key features include world-class technology, wow-moment elements, and agile settings for formal and informal meetings. Post fit-out, visitors and employees alike both experience and get a better feel for the Entain brand in physical form.

Design and Execution

Evidence-based recommendations were used to create a workplace reflective of both employee and business requirements. This included incorporating the Entain DNA, which are key elements necessary to create an engaging and future-proof working environment and providing appropriate, varied work settings to support different activities and departmental needs.

It was crucial to offer diverse settings, including formal desks set up in functional neighbourhoods, meeting booths, casual meeting areas, and quiet workspaces, to better support these tasks. The fluid space plan was designed to encourage mingling outside immediate teams, fostering informal communication. This enhances social cohesion and supports creativity and innovation. A series of ‘wow’ moments, or hero design features, throughout the space leave a lasting impression on employees, visitors, and potential hires. ADT Workplace ensured the design aligned with the aesthetic of existing Entain offices and the Art-Deco architecture of New Castle House. Thus, providing a unique experience for all and embodying Entain’s Values through world-class technology, striking features, and sustainable solutions.

Office Transformation

To deliver the engaging workspace envisioned by Entain, the office design revolved around a captivating ‘village life’ concept. This village included essential features shaping daily experiences and spaces for teams to collaborate both in person and virtually. It featured a flexible central zone with collaborative areas, quiet working spaces, focus rooms, and multi-purpose meeting rooms to promote idea generation and encourage connection beyond immediate teams.

A multi-functional meeting area with a games room at the entrance provided an exciting space for meetings and delivered the wow factor. Its bold and striking design, equipped with world-leading technology, supported connectivity with colleagues at other locations.

At the heart of the office was ‘The Brewhouse,’ a spacious kitchen and breakout area that served as a vibrant focal point with a mix of booths, café-style seating, and collaborative tables. The area also featured an arcade, vending machine, and flexible furniture that could be reconfigured for larger gatherings. This promoted community and served as a space for employee interaction and events.

The office also included core work zones tailored to individual teams, featuring various agile settings and traditional height-adjustable desks in an open-plan format. These zones were strategically positioned near windows to maximise natural daylight.

Nods to Entain’s branding and corporate colour palette, along with cutting-edge technology, including an impressive media wall, delivered a seamless and immersive experience representative of the forward-thinking company. Features such as a wellness area, mothering room and accessible toilets and lockers supports employees and their workplace experiences.

Sustainable Practices

The new office space prioritises sustainability and employee wellbeing through several initiatives. It features break-out spaces with lush planting and moveable furniture, complemented by floor-to-ceiling windows that maximises natural daylight and provides views of greenery. The project achieved a SKA rating of Silver, emphasising environmentally friendly practices like using recyclable materials and integrating energy-efficient systems. Measures to reduce waste were also implemented, resulting in zero waste to landfill during the fit-out.

Designed to optimise health and wellbeing in a hybrid working environment, the office includes social and relaxation areas, a large breakout space, and a well-equipped kitchen. Inclusive design features such as accessible amenities, and a dedicated wellbeing corner with a separate, private room, that can be used however colleagues feel they need. Additional facilities like showers, cycle storage, and changing rooms further support employee wellbeing.

This holistic approach has contributed to a notable increase in office occupancy in the three months post-opening. This reflects the space’s positive impact on employee satisfaction and productivity.

Conclusion

Entain’s move to the redesigned office space at New Castle House represents a strategic investment in a workplace that not only fulfils operational requirements but also embodies of sustainability, innovation, and employee wellbeing. Led by ADT Workplace in collaboration with AME Partnership Ltd and others, the project seamlessly integrated advanced technology, adaptable work environments, and captivating design elements such as the ‘village life’ concept and ‘The Brewhouse’. These initiatives underscore Entain’s commitment to fostering collaboration and inclusivity. Moreover, achieving a SKA Silver rating and implementing zero waste to landfill practices demonstrate Entain’s dedication to environmental responsibility.

By prioritising wellbeing amenities and inclusive spaces, Entain has enhanced overall workplace satisfaction and productivity. This is evidenced by increased office occupancy and positive feedback from employees.
