PROJECT GOALS: COMMUNITY, MODERNITY, AND FUNCTIONALITY
LJMU’s vision for this project centred around key objectives:
- Enhance Student Life: Create welcoming spaces for socialising, studying, and meeting tutors.
- Support Education: Refurbish teaching rooms with modern technology and layouts to enhance learning experiences.
- Upgrade Performance Spaces: Deliver a state-of-the-art drama theatre to inspire creativity and collaboration.
- Foster Engagement: Establish spaces that encourage meaningful interactions between students and staff.
DESIGN AND DELIVERY: TRANSFORMING CAMPUS SPACES
ADT Workplace adopted a holistic approach to meet the university’s diverse needs. The project included:
Six New Student Union Spaces: Comfortable zones for students to relax, study, or meet with friends.
Plug-in stations for tablets and laptops to support digital learning.Café-style areas for informal discussions with tutors.
Drama Theatre Upgrade: Modernised stage and seating for improved functionality and audience experience.
Enhanced acoustics and lighting to support a range of performances.
Teaching Room Refurbishment: Updated layouts with flexible seating arrangements.
Integration of modern AV systems for engaging, tech-enabled lessons.
Campus Shop: A new, vibrant retail space to meet student needs.
By focusing on versatility and modern design, the refurbishment ensures LJMU’s campus supports the evolving needs of its community.
PROJECT OUTCOMES AND SUCCESS
The transformation of Liverpool John Moores University delivered:
- 30,000 sq. ft of refurbished spaces, including social, teaching, and performance areas.
- Completion within a 12-week timeframe, ensuring minimal disruption to campus life.
- Improved student and staff engagement through thoughtfully designed spaces.
- A vibrant, modern campus that reflects LJMU’s commitment to education and community.
