Distrelec appointed ADT Workplace to complete the fit out of its new Manchester office at Two St Peter’s Square.
A UK office for a global business
The project followed the Swiss group’s strategic decision to locate its European HQ in Manchester.
This was not a refurbishment or a relocation. Instead, it marked the creation of a brand new UK office for a global business. As a result, the move supported Distrelec’s wider growth plans and created 140 new jobs in the process.
The 16,500 sq ft workspace was delivered over 11 weeks. Therefore, the project required a focused programme, clear coordination and a workplace solution that supported a major business move.
Creating Distrelec’s Enterprise Hub
Distrelec, part of Dätwyler Group, took a 10-year lease on the entire seventh floor of Two St Peter’s Square. The new Manchester office became the company’s first UK base.
The space was named the Enterprise Hub. It was designed to house product, supplier, inventory management, purchasing, e-commerce and marketing functions.
Around 100 staff were set to move into the office. Therefore, the workplace needed to support a wide range of teams and day-to-day tasks. It also needed to reflect the scale of Distrelec’s move into the UK market.
A European Theme Within a Manchester Workplace
The design of the Manchester fit out was themed around cities across Europe. This gave the workplace a clear visual identity while linking back to Distrelec’s wider European presence.
The result was a Manchester office that supported the company’s operational needs. However, it also gave the new UK base a distinct sense of place and purpose.
Two St Peter’s Square provided a high-profile setting for the project. The 160,000 sq ft building was developed by Mosley Street Ventures and funded by Deutsche Asset Management. In addition, the project was managed by Black Cat Building Consultancy.
Supporting a Strategic Move to Manchester
Distrelec’s Manchester office formed part of an important business decision. By locating its European HQ in the city, the company created a new base for key departments and long-term growth.
The fit out helped turn the seventh floor at Two St Peter’s Square into a working Enterprise Hub. It brought together core business functions within one office, including product, supplier, inventory management, purchasing, e-commerce and marketing teams.
As a result, the space supported both the company’s immediate move and its wider strategic plans.
Delivering a Complete Office Fit Out
ADT Workplace completed the 16,500 sq ft fit out within an 11-week programme. The project created a new UK office for Distrelec, rather than adapting an existing workplace.
This made the scheme an important milestone for the Swiss-founded company. Moreover, it provided a Manchester base that could support its European HQ function and growing UK presence.
The completed office gave Distrelec a professional, functional and branded workplace in one of Manchester’s leading commercial buildings.
Project Outcome
Distrelec’s new Enterprise Hub gave the business a dedicated UK base within Two St Peter’s Square. The completed fit out brought several core departments together on one floor, including product, supplier, inventory management, purchasing, e-commerce and marketing teams.
The workspace also reflected Distrelec’s European presence through a city-themed design approach. As a result, the office supported the company’s arrival in Manchester with a workplace built around its operational structure and future plans.
