2 HARDMAN STREET: MANCHESTER’S SPINNINGFIELDS TRANSFORMATION
Introduction
Located in the heart of Manchester’s Spinningfields business district, 2 Hardman Street has undergone a significant transformation, repositioning it as a premier Grade A office space. Originally home to a soda water factory, a hat-making works, and a silk finishing mill, the building’s latest evolution reflects the growing demand for high-quality, sustainable workplaces.
The client required a complete refurbishment that would attract leading businesses in an increasingly competitive market. The project, spanning 65,000 sq. ft. over four floors, was completed within 30 weeks. Working alongside Bluesky Design and JLL, ADT Workplace delivered a workspace that seamlessly integrates modern aesthetics, sustainability, and employee wellbeing.
Project Vision
The goal for 2 Hardman Street was clear: create a future-ready workspace that enhances talent attraction and retention while achieving high ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) credentials. With a target of securing a BREEAM Very Good rating, the project needed to prioritise sustainability while ensuring an inspiring and functional work environment.
The transformation focused on delivering:
- Flexible workspaces – Adaptable environments for collaboration, hybrid working, and focused tasks.
- Sustainability and wellbeing – A space designed to support a healthy and environmentally responsible workplace.
