There’s no doubt that working in construction can be a dangerous job, owing to the countless risks and hazards prevalent on building sites, which can expose workers to the risk of injury and work-related health problems. This has never been truer than in recent times, where delivery teams are dealing with the added complexities of the pandemic.
That’s why we’re particularly proud that last week, our health and safety team was recognised for two industry awards for demonstrating outstanding health and safety standards across multiple recent projects.
Firstly, the team was Commended at the Safety & Health Excellence Awards in the Best Health & Safety in Construction category for its work on the extensive transformation of One Piccadilly Gardens in the heart of Manchester city centre into Grade A office space. This award recognises a construction project which demonstrated an exemplary health and safety record, and ensured the health, safety and wellbeing of anyone who had access to or worked on the construction site.
Beginning on-site during lockdown, ADT Workplace completed works on a new reception area and common parts space, as well as the CAT A fit-out of the 3rd and 4th floors at One Piccadilly Gardens. This team worked relentlessly throughout the project to devise and implement a solid health and safety strategy which would ensure the welfare of everyone on-site throughout. This ultimately ensured the site could not only continue to operate safely throughout the pandemic, but meant it also recorded an outstanding health and safety record.
Earlier in the week the team was also presented with a Commendation of Health & Safety Excellence for delivering and promoting excellent standards of health and safety in our work with and on behalf of The Instant Group over the past 18 months. This is a new monthly award given to the top performing partner across its sites each month, so we are really proud of our health and safety team for being recognised for this first award, in what continues to be a challenging time for those working on sites. In recognition of the award, the team was presented with a generous donation for our chosen charity, Blossom’s Legacy, a cause very close to our hearts.
Our ongoing successful health and safety record is due to the exceptional talents of the dedicated team, who continue to navigate their way through a host of complex challenges with a strong zero tolerance approach. Congratulations to all involved.
