Vivid Resourcing (part of G2V Recruitment Group), a dynamic recruitment firm, partnered with ADT Workplace to consolidate its two Manchester offices into a single, vibrant space in Spinningfields. With the lease on their previous office expiring, this relocation presented an opportunity to combine operations into a larger 12,207 sq. ft office. The new location was designed to reflect Vivid’s youthful culture, motivate employees, and attract top talent.

Project Goals: Designing for Talent and Innovation

The goals for the project were clear. First, the new office needed to foster collaboration among a team of 190 employees working across sales, operations, and EU departments. Next, it had to incorporate spaces that reflected the company’s “work hard, play harder” culture, such as recreational areas and social zones. Finally, the design aimed to appeal to young graduates while creating a modern workplace that enhances productivity.

Innovative Design Approach

ADT Workplace embraced the concept of “Vivid Thinking” to guide the design process. The goal was to create a dynamic environment that inspires creativity, teamwork, and forward-thinking. The layout includes open-plan workspaces, training areas, and social zones, all integrated with vibrant and engaging design elements. This approach ensures the office supports Vivid’s culture of innovation and collaboration.

Key Features Delivered

  • Open-Plan Workspaces: The heart of the office is a large, open-plan desking area. This setup encourages communication and teamwork while keeping everyone connected.
  • Social and Recreational Spaces: A spacious social area with refreshment stations, pool tables, and dartboards reflects the company’s energetic ethos.
  • Meeting and Training Rooms: Sufficient meeting rooms support collaborative discussions, while a dedicated training area enhances professional development.
  • Statistics Screens: Strategically placed AV screens ensure all staff remain informed and motivated.
  • Bespoke Joinery: Custom furniture featuring the Vivid logo doubles as a branding element and a backdrop for social media posts.

Colour and Material Palette

The design reflects Vivid’s brand identity through a bold colour scheme of grey, white, and red. Robust materials such as concrete and mesh were softened with wooden accents and fabric, creating a balanced aesthetic.

Overcoming Challenges

One key challenge was to design dividers that concealed the teapoint and coat storage areas without disrupting the open-plan layout. ADT overcame this by creating custom joinery inspired by a dreamcatcher. These dividers, crafted with bungees, align with Vivid’s brand while maintaining a clean and cohesive look throughout the office.
