Global hygiene and health company Essity partnered with ADT Workplace to design and build a sustainable, human-centric office at Ocean House, located in Towers Business Park, Didsbury, Manchester.
This relocation, driven by expansion, reflects Essity’s commitment to environmental responsibility, employee wellbeing, and modern ways of working.
A Move with Purpose
Essity’s decision to relocate was driven by a desire for a workspace that supported its evolving needs. The new 10,000 sq. ft. office on the second floor of Ocean House offers improved connectivity and vibrant surroundings. Situated in a stunning parkland environment, this Grade A office space promotes productivity, community, and wellbeing.
Designing for Flexibility and Wellbeing
From the outset, Essity aimed to create a workplace that empowered its people to work flexibly while staying connected. The office was designed to accommodate a hybrid workforce, blending focused solo work with spaces for collaboration and social interaction.
Key design elements include:
- Dedicated quiet pods and bookable office rooms for deep focus
- Collaboration areas with integrated technology
- Agile meeting spaces featuring moveable partitions
- Biophilic elements to boost wellness and productivity
- A showroom to display Essity’s wide range of products
This holistic approach ensures the environment not only supports current workstyles but also evolves with the business.
Sustainability at the Core
Sustainability was a central pillar of the project. Working alongside JLL and consultants Mullins Associates, we ensured the project was delivered as sustainably as possible. This included
- Installing the latest mechanical and electrical systems to reduce energy and water consumption
- Adopting a circular economy approach to the entire fit-out
- Achieving zero waste to landfill
These decisions helped reduce the office’s carbon footprint and created a healthier indoor environment for staff.

Essity’s purpose and brand values are visible throughout the workspace. From subtle signage and wall graphics to carefully chosen colour palettes, every detail reinforces the company’s identity.
