ADT Workplace has completed work on a full office design and refurbishment for the UK’s leading kitchen and homewares supplier, KitchenCraft.

The 20,000 sq ft. purpose built office is part of a 250,000 sq.ft facility which also houses a showroom and national distribution warehouse for KitchenCraft.

Originally founded in 1850, KitchenCraft now forms part of Lifetime Brands inc., a leading global provider of kitchenware and tableware products. Its new workspace, which is located at The Hub, a thriving business park just a stone’s throw from Birmingham city centre, acts as the international headquarters for Lifetime Brands.

Having outgrown its existing premises in Birmingham and Corby, KitchenCraft has amalgamated both sites into one location, creating a new office space for its 120 staff, which also accommodates its plans for future expansion. With a reputation for delivering innovative and inspiring kitchenware, KitchenCraft required a workplace environment which would allow the team to innovate and collaborate, to create market leading products quickly and efficiently.

Strong brand heritage

Following a competitive tender process, ADT Workplace was chosen to complete the full design and build for the project, which was completed in summer 2019. The new space incorporates flexible and collaborative workspaces to promote creativity and connectivity, a large central café area for both office and warehouse staff – something missing from KitchenCraft’s previous locations – as well as casual and formal meeting facilities. Designed with the company’s strong brand, heritage and founding values at its core, the new facility creates a lasting experience for clients, suppliers and staff.

ADT Workplace’s Design Director, Stacey Charlesworth said: “We adopted a true partnership approach with KitchenCraft throughout this project with the team actively involved in helping to create the design concept. With the textures, finishes and soft colour palette used throughout all inspired by the company’s product range, the new space is truly reflective of KitchenCraft’s brand.”

Improved connectivity and creativity

Commenting, Matthew Canwell, KitchenCraft’s Managing Director said: “We chose to work with ADT Workplace because we had confidence that they had the true understanding of our brand, business processes and culture, to be able to work with us in creating an environment we needed to work more effectively and efficiently. ADT Workplace had the experience and as both businesses are known for their creativity, we brought our combined talents and flair to bear on the project.

“The end result has exceeded our expectations in every way. The modern, fresh and elegant design is 100% on-brand, and has provided us with a unique and dynamic workspace which is tailored to our requirements and aspirations. Despite only working in the space for a short period of time, we’re already seeing noticeably improved connectivity among the team and a much more collaborative culture.”
