ADT Workplace has played its part in the transformation of 3 Barrington Road in Altrincham, into contemporary office space which has achieved a BREAM Very Good rating for its sustainable built environment.
Formerly the Southmark Building, 3 Barrington Road in Altrincham officially opened its doors in 2020 after an extensive refurbishment programme. Following a competitive tender process, ADT Workplace was appointed as the principle contractor for the project, and worked alongside Pozzoni Architecture and other professional partners, to complete the fit-out in a 22-week programme.
Wanting to appeal to modern businesses looking for an ideal location in one of the UK’s most thriving towns on the outskirts of Manchester city-centre, the 3 Barrington Road team had a vision for the space which put the potential occupiers at the heart of every decision. Not only was contemporary design and flexible workspace key, but equally important was that the space championed a sustainable lifestyle and had the wellbeing of its users at its core. Also crucial was the building’s long-term environmental impact.
ADT Workplace completed the full demolition of all internal floor areas, including the removal of partitioning and ceilings, and then supplied and installed new M&E exposed services throughout. New bathrooms and changing facilities were also installed, as well as the new secure bike hub and electric car charging points, to provider occupiers with the ideal facilities to support a healthier lifestyle.
As part of the fit-out, ADT Workplace also extensively remodelled the front elevation, including laying new foundations and steel work, to create a double-height reception, allowing the existing steep steps up from street level to be removed. The sleek new reception area was created incorporating high quality bespoke joinery and a bespoke Armourcoat feature wall, both of which contribute to a greater sense of experience for visitors as they enter the building.
With 30,000 sq.ft of light, bright, contemporary workspace across four floors, 3 Barrington Road now offers flexible workspace designed with modern businesses in mind. The building incorporates features that support wellbeing throughout, including a state-of-the-art technical fresh air ventilation system and an abundance of natural light. Such was the focus on delivering the very best in quality and sustainability, the fit-out has achieved a BREEAM Very Good rating.
